Their Story...
Dave and Nikki first met through mutual friends two weeks before Nikki left for her first year of college at the University of Minnesota. They dated long-distance for three years, but are both now in Madison attending graduate school.
Dave followed family tradition when he asked Nikki to be his wife. On the Friday before her birthday the two were going to go out to dinner to celebrate. Dave picked Nikki up from work and said he had to go pick up his present for her at his house. On the way there, he mentioned that something sounded wrong with his wheel. He pulled off onto a dead end road and got out of the car to look at the front passenger side wheel. He asked her to open the door and get something out of the glove compartment for him. She opened the glove compartment to find a red rose inside. Nikki turned to look at him and saw that he was on one knee outside her door, pulling out a ring. "Will you marry me?" And of course she said, "Yes!!" The proposal was especially special to the couple, because Dave's father had proposed to Dave's mother by having her open up a glove compartment to find the ring inside.
After their May wedding, Nikki will be completing her Masters at the UW. Dave will also complete his graduate program in Physical Therapy. They would like to stay in the Madison area and hope to buy a house, get a dog, and have kids. However, at this point, they're simply looking forward to being married.
